Surgery Information / Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here in Walkden.

You will be joining a small friendly team who work well together and who are fully committed to the practice and their clients, with many us having been here since we opened in 2015! We try to maintain a social aspect to the team when we can, so you will be invited to social events outside of work.

Partners Deborah Anwyl and Gemma Butterworth have a wealth of experience between them. Deborah qualified from Edinburgh vet school in 2009, whilst Gemma qualified as a nurse from Pro Co nursing college in 2013. We are keen to help all of our colleagues succeed within their areas of interest, and Deborah holds a gp certificate in SAS, so can help you progress your surgical skills if this is a particular interest to you to.

Our bright, spacious, air-conditioned surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and has state of the art equipment including Digital x-ray, ultrasound, in house lab with idexx blood machines. We have a typical mix of cases and a high number of insured clients.

Being based within a Pets at Home store we have an excellent relationship with these colleagues as well and benefit from collaborative working. Parking is easy as we are on a retail park, and there are a variety of shops locally and a fully equipped gym which our team can get discounted membership. There is also a steady supply of brownies and treats….as Gemma is our star baker!

Person Specification

The ideal vet to join us will be a keen team player, have excellent communication skills, and be able to build great relationships with our clients and their pets. You should be confident in routine surgical and medical cases and comfortable with sole charge.

This is a full time role, 40 hours per week, with 1 in 2 weekends on a rota basis. You will be pleased to know that there is no OOH requirement!

Benefits

We can offer you:
• Excellent career development opportunities
• No OOH
• Contributory pension scheme
• Competitive salary based on experience
• Generous CPD allowance and plenty of support
• Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS, etc.)
• Uniform provided
• Free parking
• Discounted gym membership
• Exclusive company discounts and rewards including 20% off at Vets4Pets, Pets at Home and the Groom Room

If we sound like the practice for you, then we’d love to hear from you.
