An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and experienced Scientist to join our veterinary diagnostic laboratory team working in our busy, purpose-built specialist veterinary centre. 

The position will be based in our blood sciences department which covers haematology, biochemistry and endocrinology. Blood film examination would be a large part of the role alongside urinalysis, performing QC and maintenance of analysers, stock control and training of colleagues/students when required. Multidisciplinary work in Microbiology and Histology may be involved on an ad hoc basis, and dependant on the interests of the individual. The role will be supported by the Laboratory Manager and Senior BMS in blood sciences. 

Please note this is a full-time position, working a 40-hour week (8-hour shifts between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday). The post holder would also be required to partake in the Saturday and Bank Holiday rotas. The laboratory is not open on Sundays or Christmas Day. 
 

Person Specification



The ideal candidate will have experience in haematology (either human or veterinary) and/or other areas of blood sciences with an interest in learning more about veterinary diagnostics. They will hold a degree in a relevant science subject, ideally Biomedical Science or Bioveterinary Science. Experience with any of our analysers or similar would be advantageous; Advia 2120, Beckman Coulter AU480 and Siemens Immulite 2000. 

Computer literacy is essential with the ability to quickly pick up use of our laboratory information management system and practice management system.
