Surgery Information / Job Description

The Vet Group operates a UK leading small animal veterinary business, with 440 First Opinion practices located both in our stores and in standalone locations, as well as four Specialist Referral centres.  We are based in beautiful offices next to the Retail Outlet and Steam Museum in Swindon.

 Key responsibilities

  • Supervision of the payroll team to achieve departmental and organisational objectives through training and daily resource planning
  • Ensure end to end payroll including required post payroll actions completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Reconciliation of data for submission to HMRC
  • Liaison with various HR and Finance Teams throughout the organisation
  • 2nd line of escalation for payroll queries and issues
  • Assist with rollout and training of new processes into BAU to include the testing of changes to SAP and associated payroll systems.
  • Maintenance of the integrity of the data held within the payroll system
  • Deliver the highest level professional payroll services to the Vets
  • Keep up to date with all current payroll legislation and ensure all team members updated
  • Support internal and external audits ensuring key controls adhered to


 


 

Person Specification

Skills required

  • You will have experience of supervising/leading a team, however it is essential that you will be able to demonstrate your ability to do so
  • Previous experience of administering payroll within an office environment is essential. 
  • Experience of auto-enrolment, RTI & all aspects of HMRC compliance and legislation is essential. 
  • Previous experience of using SAP payroll solution is desirable but not essential.
  • The successful candidate must be well organised and must work to a high level of accuracy and have keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills. You will need to have strong written and verbal communication skills as you will be liaising with a large number of colleagues from all areas of the business.
  • Excellent computer /PC Skills. The candidate will be required to be computer literate in Word and Excel.
  • Must possess the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must be an honest and trustworthy individual who is able to comfortably handle confidential information.
